Hello, I have a LV belt. The belt is an FEM object, and the buckle is a RigidBody object. I want them to be attached so when the entire belt falls the leather deforms, but the buckle stays rigid. But I want them to fall together as they would IRL. Help??
In the screenshot you see them hit the floor and begin doing their own separate things. How to constrain RBD buckle to FEM belt.

Hi, I have followed Luiz's GDC tutorial trying to get my billowy smoke out as a vertex animation.
It keeps coming in to UE4 very strangely and I can't figure out the issue.
Any idea on what is causing this in the images below?
You can kind of see the animation playing, but it is exploded into a bunch of surfaces.

Hello, I have a groomed look and sim I am liking and wanting to use in Maya. When I export as Alembic it looks like the Sim and “guides” are in there nicely, but I don't actually see the hair_gen density etc. How do I convert the hair_gen stuff into GEO that I can export out? Thanks

Thank you I am trying this out. I would just get a .file from exporting alembic under the file tab, so that kinda makes sense. fingers crossed.

Thank you for that terminology I can further explore what it all means haha.
If someone could list just the necessary nodes I should be looking to connect my auto dop networks to an output node that would be amazing.

Where is a tutorial that actually SHOWS YOU how to properly “render/export” DOP sims (whitewater_ hairgroom_ hairgen_ETC) out of Houdini and into other softwares? I am extremely frustrated as I have done at least 50 tutorials on different facets of this software but no one seems to actually go through the motions of exporting and importing.(MIX training latest game dev live traning was great for that stuff) I need to get these sims into C4D/Maya for rendering.
When I export from the file tab either certain things don't work in my FBX file
Or if I export alembic I get this .file that isn't even .abc
This is 3D jargon that I obviously don't understand but where the hell do I learn? These Houdini General overviews DONT explain this stuff. I have done Lynda.com and Digital Tutors. SHOW ME a tutorial that is about preparing everything in the network for export.
Thank you.

I have been using Houdini for 5 months and love it, but being self taught I just don't understand the fundamentals of exporting sims and other things out of Houdini.
Could anyone send visual reference or not of how to export the beach_ tank /whitewater sim (I have a beach tank that I like and shows up in Maya/C4D but whitewater wont sim) and or the hair_groom and hair_gen to Maya and Cinema 4D?
Can I use the new HDA vertex_animation_Textures Luiz(s?) gave us? Noticed that's what was used in his GDC thing and MIX training.
Thank you very much!

Thank you very much, Luiz! I finally have an understanding of packing geometry for rigid body destruction in UE4. I have been able to successfully export alembic for 4.13. I continue to explore exporting dynamic animation the right way!
Very glad to hear we are just on the cusp of this pipeline. That gives me another solid week to ramp up my skills in anticipation of Houdini 16.
Best

Hello,
I am dead set on using Houdini for game development in UE4 after the Twitch presentation last Thursday. Incredible.
I've been using Houdini for about 6 months so I feel I have the basics down. I come from Maya and Zbrush.
But I have never been able to get anything besides a static mesh to show up in UE4.
I was given a sample scene from the Tree People group in Denmark. They have been able to get some sort of tree grouth animation into UE4, but the process they took to get it in is a little over my head. (I have attached a screenshot of the node network below).
Is there some kind of beginners guide for Houdini in UE4?? Like the stuff that was shown in the Twitch presentation. Is that all Houdini 16?
I haven't really be able to find anything about actually getting this cool stuff into UE4 here, or Digital Tutors, or Lynda.
